Outreach at Grace Church is characterized by three components which flow from the very heart of God: Evangelism, Discipleship and Compassion. This mission is carried out as we motivate, equip and involve the congregation in building God’s Kingdom beyond the immediate sphere of activity of the local church. Whether in our neighborhood, the United States or abroad, our purpose is to show the love of Christ to a lost and broken world. “… and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8 Evangelism We strive to proclaim and live the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way that will impact our community and the world to the glory of God, and to facilitate the reaching of lost people by making the Gospel accessible to them. “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 Discipleship In the Great Commission, Jesus charged His disciples with the task of discipling all nations, teaching them to obey everything Jesus had commanded. After evangelism, Discipleship is the next important task needed to solidify a genuine transformation and continue the spread of the truth of God’s Word. Third world pastors and church planters (many having little training themselves) struggle to teach the Bible among non-literate new believers. We endeavor to strategically partner with those who are coming alongside to offer training and encouragement, empowering churches around the world. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.." Matthew 28:19&20 Compassion It is our call and privilege to proclaim in word and deed the message of hope, redemption and salvation in Christ. In many parts of the world, this message cannot be isolated from the immediate, real needs of the people. We seek to exemplify our Savior’s compassion by ministering to the totality of human need in areas such as food, clothing, shelter, health care, and development. “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27 |
