Q: How long will someone be in the Grace Church office on Friday, December 29, 2017 if I want to drop-off my year-end 2017 contribution?

A: The church office will close at noon on Friday, December 29th, 2017.  This year however, you can bring in your year end gifts on Sunday, December 31st when you come for Sunday Services.

Q: If I mail a contribution to Grace Church in late December 2017 and Grace Church doesn’t receive the contribution until early January 2017 can I claim the contribution as a deduction for 2017?

A: Yes, any contribution that is mailed and postmarked in 2017 is deductible for 2017.  This contribution will be recorded on your 2017 year-end giving statement from Grace Church.

Q: If I make a contribution to Grace Church during the first week of January 2018 can I claim the deduction on my 2017 tax return?

A: No, IRS regulations say you cannot claim the contribution on your 2017 tax return.

Q: Does the IRS have a limit as to the amount of contributions I can deduct on my taxes?

A: Yes, please consult your tax advisor for details.

Q: I paid for a book for a class I took at Grace Church during 2017.  Can I deduct the amount I paid for the book?

A: No, if you received something in return (e.g., books) the amount you paid for the book is not deductible unless the amount you paid for the book exceeds the value of the book.

In the aforementioned example, you must contact the publisher of the book to determine its actual value.

Q: When will Grace’s year-end giving statement for 2017 be sent to me?

A: You will receive Grace’s year-end giving statement by January 31, 2018.  Please do not file your taxes for 2017 until you receive Grace’s year-end giving statement for 2017 to assure the amount your deducting for 2017 for Grace Church matches the amount on your 2017 giving statement.  Thank you!

Q: Who do I contact if I didn’t receive my giving statement from Grace?

A: Please contact Dion Gracyalny at (262) 639-6192.  Thanks!

Thank you so much for giving to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through Grace!  “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this?  Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”   (1 Chronicles 29:14, NIV)
